In 1867, Dr Thomas Barnardo’s set up a school in London for young children that were disadvantaged. During this time, Dr Barnardo’s was exposed to elevated levels of child poverty which led him to devoting his time to helping children that were in dire need. Today, Barnardo’s builds better futures for vulnerable children across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
