care for older skin

The daily regime of applying and removing make-up can puts a serious amount of stress on your skin, especially around sensitive areas such as your eyes.

While most of us spend a lot of time shopping for and selecting our makeup, we aren’t quite nearly as picky when it comes to makeup remover. While you can get away with a warm face cloth some of the time, a reliable removal product is well worth the trouble of finding – especially for oily mascaras, false lashes, etc.

Here’s a quick selection of my current favourites.

Living Nature Gentle Makeup Remover

Living Nature Gentle Makeup Remover is ideal for sensitive skin and eyes, and I am not saying that just because it’s written on the bottle.

I always had sensitive skin, especially around my eye area, and not a lot of makeup remover works for me, so finding this little gem was ideal.

Made out of natural ingredients it proved to be highly effective, even with waterproof mascara. It carefully removed my makeup without the burning and dryness sensation on my eyes.  I like to use it as a toner as well because I feel it cleans and refreshes the skin, without drying it out.  The thing that I am not too keen on is the medicinal smell.

Available from Naturismo cost approx £13.60

Lancome Bi-facil Eye Makeup Remover

I tried this eye-makeup remover when it came as a gift with a purchase and I absolutely loved it!! It’s thorough, but gentle, there’s no overpowering smell and no need to use a too much of it to do the job. It is quick to take off even the hardest of makeup without rubbing or repeating the process, and you don’t get a burning eye sensation. Nor does the skin feel greasy after use.

This product is a bit more expensive but it’s worth the money.

L’Oreal Skin Revitalift Wet Cleansing

I use L’Oreal Skin Revitalift Wet cleansing wipes in my lazy moments when I am not in the mood for properly cleaning, washing, toning my face. Very easy to use, and they work as effective as any other make up remover. It doesn’t leave my skin oily or overpowered by cleaning products.

You will get in a bag 25 wipes, which are also great to have in your handbag on the go. I use them all the time when I travel, because they are easy to use and carry.

L’Oreal Skin Revitalift Wet Cleansing available from Boots approx £2.35

Garnier simply essentials 2 in 1 makeup remover

Garnier Simply Essential 2 in 1 makeup remover is a product that I use quite often, and even when I change my makeup removal product I still tend to come back to it.

This product is aimed at people with sensitive skin, and with no alcohol or perfume it offers a gentle way to clean the skin of you face. It is effective in terms of makeup removal, as you don’t need to use too much of it as it quickly cuts through most cosmetics.

The blue layer on the top is a make-up removing oil that is enriched with B5. To use, you need to shake the bottle to mix the two liquids, spread it on a cotton pad and wipe away any make up.

If you don’t like oily products maybe you will not be too keen on it, but after use the skin feels hydrated and soft.

What I love the most at this product is the price, really good value for money.
