Simple makeup can still enhance your natural beauty and leave you feeling fabulous for the day ahead. The trick is to add the right kind of colour and definition to a face that has already been thoroughly moisturised:
Base
Mix your foundation and primer together and apply lightly to your face in buffing circular motions. Applying foundation and primer together provides a perfect light-weight base and ensures your makeup will stay put. Add a sweep of blusher to brighten the face.
Brows
Many people skip brows when they’re going to a simple, fresh look for summer – but it’s well worth keeping this in your routine to create balance and proportion.
Eyes
In the summer, you don’t want to use a lot of eye shadow, but a little is still essential to slightly define your eyes. I would suggest using light colours like Cappuccino and Taupe to create a light-weight but still defined look. Add a coat of mascara to make your eyes more prominent and more open.
Lips
Apply lipstick to add a splash of colour. I find that a bright lipstick like a soft coral colour lipstick works brilliantly on a summer face.
What to take on holiday
Holidays are an excellent opportunity to have some fun with your makeup. Your face may be in the sun more than usual, so you will need to adjust your makeup accordingly to accommodate a tan. The makeup products that you loved during the UK winter months will not cut it on your summer adventure!
I keep my face out of the sun, so I always bring a light facial fake tan with me to ensure that my face is a similar colour to my neck and décolletage. If you do, however, like the sun on your face, make sure you use a moisturiser containing SPF, such as the Look Fabulous Forever Smooth the Day Face Cream.
