A weekend at Thoresby Hall

Get away this autumn for an activity filled and pampering break at Thoresby Hall, a stunning Warner Leisure resort.

Thoresby Hall

Unsure of what to expect when arriving at the great Thoresby Hall, my expectations were definitely exceeded pulling into the drive – there is no denying, the hall is beautiful. The grade I listed building is an architectural delight, the interior still retains the historic Victorian charm as guests can lounge in high-backed armchairs by grand fireplaces.

Greeted by incredibly helpful and welcoming staff we checked in and were shown to our room – the ornate towel swan feature was a lovely touch! The room itself was basic but had everything you’d expect from a hotel and everything we needed for a comfortable nights sleep.

With there being so much to do on site we hardly spent any time in our room. From quizzes and organised walks to the bird of prey experience and craft making activities, a stay at Thoresby Hall can be as busy or as laid back as you like – this is a venue that caters to all needs and abilities.

We were fortunate enough to stay over two glorious days – I’d definitely recommend taking a walk around the gardens, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views there is also a giant chess board, bowls court, croquet and putting green. In Keeping with the Robin Hood history and for those wanting to try something new, the wooded archery court offers guests the opportunity to try your hand with .

The Sherwood restaurant

Dining

The food at Thoresby is excellent, providing guests with breakfast and a three-course dinner; The Sherwood Restaurant caters to all. With excellent table service, the food arrives at your table quickly with plenty of staff on hand if you require anything further. The food was made to a very high standard, considering the buffet-style dining, and the presentation of each plate ordered to the table was carefully considered. However, with this fast eat approach to a sit-down dinner; dining at the Sherwood Restaurant did create a canteen ambience to eating.

For those seeking a more refined surroundings, the newly refurbished Blue Grill restaurant is the setting for a truly memorable and luxurious evening. The most elegant room in the house – with walls dressed in blue silk damask – overlooks the beautiful gardens and offers an exquisite dining experience with a new grill menu.

The Spa

It is testament to the stress of modern living that we treasure so highly the opportunity to escape to calm, relaxing surroundings and few places can provide the necessary tranquillity like Thoresby Hall. The pool, sauna and steam rooms are available to all to guests but for those seeking a little more luxury, the leisure suite has plenty to offer to unwind, relax and enjoy!

With a range of treatments on offer from body, massages, hand and feet treatments, there is sure to be the right experience for you. I had the EPSA skin solution facial, a 55-minute treatment that left my face and body feeling revitalised and refreshed. The facial is aimed at you and your needs so, after a skin analysis and preference tests, products are used that are right for your skin type. I’d truly recommend this treatment if your skin is feeling dull and dehydrated as mine was.

To finish off the weekend we spent a delightful couple of hours in the spa where we had the choice of relaxing in the Hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam rooms and even cooling off in an ice cave. The option to spend time relaxing in the spa lounge is also available and as you continue your wind-down in the lounge chairs, you can order a snack and hot drink to really help put the icing on the cake.
