As escapes go, Tylney Hall seems to be in a world of its own. This delightful boutique venue in Hampshire is an absolute gem and delivers a pitch perfect short break experience.

The tone for your stay is set on arrival as you roll through the beautifully manicured grounds. Its open yet intimate gardens and cobble stoned pathways lead to some delightfully secluded escapes. The Grade II listed Victorian era building boasts elegant, tranquil surroundings; lily ponds with geese playing, colourful Koi carp and extensive lawns.

Tylney stands in its own own 66 acres of glorious parkland and boasts the longest uninterrupted view in Hampshire which is flanked by two lines of mature Redwoods that march to the distant horizon.

Tylney has been shortlisted for a number of awards in 2012 and it is plain to see why: Exquisite accommodation, exemplary service constantly on hand and outstanding facilities. Even jilted bride Angela Burrow couldn’t stay away – dumped by her would-be husband days before the big day, she refused to cancel her reception and enjoyed a new beginnings party with her family and friends.

I was lucky enough to be invited to Tylney to experience an evening of opera: Leoncavallo’s much-loved tale of lust and jealousy, Il Pagliacci. While the event was black tie it was very relaxed , informal and enjoyable. Set in the baronial hall, beautifully decorated with flowers to complement the unique period features of the house.

So, after a champagne reception and a fantastic early evening opera soiree, we took our seats in The Oak Room, Tylney Hall’s grand dining room.

The restaurant’s menu boasts both seasonal specialities and signature dishes, and naturally everything is prepared to order. The cuisine is complemented by a carefully chosen wine list, and the quiet and attentive service completes a memorable experience. Here is an example of the Table d’Hote menu.

The choice of an indoor heated pool to relax in or a large outdoor pool leisure facility, makes swimming a must with weather permitting not an issue. I was however very fortunate to enjoy good weather during my stay.

Very helpful staff are on hand at reception to assist with your room requirement, morning call and newspaper and any other questions you may have regarding the facilities as well as surrounding area.

Should you be a golfing fan, immaculate fields are on hand.  As we arrived we viewed ecstatic families, happy faces of all departing after enjoying what I believe was a perfect wedding the night before.

Toiletry products provided are of high quality as expected, but the Nespresso coffee, tasteful chocolates, homemade biscuits and fresh fruit an added bonus that was thoroughly enjoyed.

With the do not disturb sign up, our beds were not turned downed but a kind friendly note left requesting us to call for the service if required.

This was due to a thoroughly enjoyable experience watching the performance and not returning until late, also to admit we’d forgotten the fact that the ‘do not disturb sign was left on the door’…

Perfect experience for an enjoyable, relaxing break – highly recommended.
