When looking for a unique, boutique hotel to stay in during your trip to London, The Levin does not disappoint. Located just a stone’s throw away from Britain’s popular department store, Harrods, The Levin has an enviable location that is in my opinion perfectly placed for whatever you decide to do whilst in London, especially with Knightsbridge Tube Station on your doorstep. As well as the famous department stores London has to offer (including Harvey Nichols and the chic boutiques of Sloane Street and Beauchamp place), Hyde Park and the stunning Kensington Gardens are near by, as well as the V&A and Natural History Museum, which are just a 10 minute walk.
The hotel itself has only 12 beautifully designed rooms meaning that it is a quiet, romantic and a private sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The rooms themselves are designed in a 1930s style and facilities include air conditioning, champagne mini bar, complimentary high-speed internet access, a Nespresso machine, Templespa toiletries and a unique library selection of Penguin Classics.
The Levin is owned and operated by David Levin and is the sister hotel to adjacent 5 star The Capital hotel. When first arriving at this charming and contemporary hotel, the staff were friendly and attentive- nothing was too much trouble, something that I discovered would continue throughout my stay here. The lobby itself is very striking with luxe fabrics and finishes and most notably a beautiful piece of art in the stairwell-a chandelier 18 metres in height is a cascade of iridescent glass.
Dining
The Levin hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast for guests served in-room or in the hotel’s basement restaurant: The Metro. Often referred to as a Knightsbridge hidden gem, the Metro opens at 7.30am each morning and late each day and offers breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas and dinner. Here is where we had our evening meal.
The evening menu has a good variety to choose from including popular British dishes such as fish and chips and shepherd’s pie and healthier options too. It is ever revolving to suit the seasons, which reflects the Metro’s desire to give their customers the best choices. The service was prompt, friendly and the food was delicious- I certainly would recommend the tasty ham and cheddar croquettes with mustard mayonnaise as a starter! The prices are very reasonable too and the specially priced ‘wines of the week’ are chosen from the owner’s cellar and expert sources. Breakfast was also to this high standard, with a choice of a continental breakfast buffet or a traditional cooked breakfast, both of which were a delicious start to the day.
This is a hotel and restaurant I will definitely be returning to on my next stay in London.
